Parents must provide:
Pre-School and Toddlers:
A nutritious lunch. This must include milk or juice, a sandwich, or substitute, and fruit or vegetable. We reserve the right not to serve a lunch low on nutritional value. Candy, gum and soda pop will not be served. Lunches must be varied. Just like adults, children get tired of eating the same meals on a regular basis.
Infants:
Parents must provide all meals and formula. La Escuelita will provide milk when formula is no longer required. We will also provide a morning and afternoon snack when infants are 15 months or older.
We post our menu in each classroom. Parents need to provide any substitutes for meals posted if the child has a food allergy.
There will be a $3.00 charge for lunches provided for students who come without a meal
FOOD ALLERGIES:
Names of children and their specific food allergies will be posted in the food service area of each classroom and in the kitchen.
Parents are responsible in notifying us of any food allergies their child may have. We need a note from the child’s physician stating which foods they are allergic to and indicate a substitute item of equal nutritional value in order to meet the need. This is required of us according to the USDA guidelines. Please ask us for the Food Allergy Health Care Provider form to take to the doctor for this purpose.
Parents are also responsible for providing substitutions, for example, if a child is allergic to milk products, the parent would need to bring a non-dairy beverage to substitute when milk is served and when the menu lists an entree which contains milk products. The parents will be responsible to pack a substitute item.
