Carmen Sosa Masso, is the director and founder of La Escuelita. She has extensive experience in the field of early childhood bilingual, bicultural education. In 1980, La Escuelita Bilingual School opened their first Seattle location in the University District community. In 2006, La Escuelita opened in the Columbia City neighborhood. Carmen has taught Spanish CDA classes and classes towards the A.A. Certificate in Bilingual Bicultural Education in local community colleges in Seattle. She assisted in the development of the Bilingual Bicultural Specialization in the education department at Shoreline Community College. She also coordinated at Shoreline Community College the City of Seattle’s Comprehensive Childcare Training Program. She is the co-author, with Dr. Sharon Cronin of the Soy Bilingue book. Carmen has served on the State’s Hispanic Commission and was one of the founders of the Latino Childcare Task Force. Carmen has also been nominated for the City of Seattle’s Small Business Award and Small Business Woman of the year by the National Republican Congressional Committee. Carmen holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Pacific Oaks Northwest.
